From 4th June until the 6th of July, years 5 & 6 took part in the Fiver Challenge. The Fiver Challenge is an initiative by Richard Branson, supported by Virgin money to promote entrepreneurship in young people. It is a fun and engaging project that provides young people with a pledge of £5. The young people were challenged to set up a mini business to create products, provide a service (or both) that they could then sell for a profit, whilst engaging with their local community. The Fiver Challenge introduced the pupils to the world of enterprise and helped build important employability skills, such as risk taking, team working, problem solving, communication and financial literacy, which they can continue to develop in later life. The groups deiced on a variety of ideas from car-washes and milkshakes to cakes and lemonade. They visited local businesess and went to the monthly horsemart to sell their products. As a class, the children raised over £600 - quite an achievement.

We must take this opportunity to thank Mr.Patel (owner and manager of NISA Llanybydder) for his very generous offer of donating 10% on top of the pupils' total profit. We can't thank you enough.
